Group Bike Rides
Whether you’re new to the area or a visitor, feel free to join one of the many group rides offered in our area.
Here’s the list, current as of May 14, 2013:
Mondays
In Ashland— Kelly McKnight will host the Monday night rides: For now leaving from 215 12th St W in Ashland, maybe Prentice Park in the future. The ride will be the 118 to Highland loop (20 miles) at a conversational pace. PLEASE, if you get a chance, let him know if you plan on riding. More info: Mr. Kelly J. Tuesdays
In Hayward— New Moon Road Ride. 5:30 launch from New Moon Ski & Bike parking lot. Groups will break out based on speed/ability as needed. 1.5-2 hrs typical length. Fast group usually breaks up out on the road, but 2nd and 3rd groups are generally no-drop for those who want to stick together. All are welcome! For more info: call New Moon 715-634-8685.
In Rice Lake— Herd of Turtles Road Ride will launch from the Turtleback Golf Course at 6 PM. Food and Showers at Turtleback after - bring a towel. For more info:Contact Matt Nelson (bikenelson@hotmail.com) or Mark Bittner (whitenosebuck@yahoo.com)
Wednesdays
In Seeley— Women Only Off-Road Ride. 5:30 PM launch from Riverbrook parking lot in Seeley. Routes and difficulty varies. Contact Riverbrook at 715-634-5600.
Thursday
In Hayward— New Moon Guided Off-Road Ride. 8 AM to 10 AM from New Moon parking lot or designated trailhead. “Mountain Biking 101” Ideal for families, newer riders, or anyone wanting more confidence biking in the woods. A great opportunity for vacationers to learn CAMBA Trails. Rides will vary depending on experience of those in attendance. Equipment NOT provided, but rentals are available at New Moon Ski & Bike. In Cable/Hayward/ Drummond/somewhere in northern Wisconsin - Chequama Mamas Ride — 5:30 p.m. launch for a ride going somewhere for some distance at some unknown pace, but usually on the road. The oldest and most fabled group ride in the region. Famous potluck dinners post-ride. For more info: contact Gary Crandall at 715-798-3594.
Saturdays
In Hayward— Cresthill Resort Road Ride. Launch at 8 AM from the resort, to move earlier to 7 AM later in the summer. 35-40 mile loop on good roads at a brisk, but no-drop pace. For more info: contact Scott Wilson 715-462-9911. (www.cresthillresort.com for maps)
In Washburn— Washburn Saturday Java Ride. 8 a.m. launch from Dennis Liphart's house (715 Hillside in Washburn). No drop 2-3 hour ride, medium pace with a few hill sprints. Sundays
In Seeley— Riverbrook Road Ride. 10 AM launch from Riverbrook in Seeley. 20-50 mile, no-drop ride. For more info: contact Riverbrook Bike & Ski 715-634-5600.
