Birkie Trail Report from the ABSF: Wed, 12.13.17 – (8:00AM) – Last night we groomed the skate deck from OO to Hatchery Creek. This yields another roughly 21K of skiable trail. No classic track was set. We got another couple of inches of snow last night, it’s snowing now, and there is more snow in the forecast so we will be busy here and will keep updating the Groomer’s Report.
Tuesday, 12.12.17 – (10:00AM) – After grooming and setting tracks from OO to Fire Tower on the Birkie Skate and Classic Trails, we have turned our focus to the south side of OO. Before we can make corduroy on the south side of OO, we need to clear downed trees and brush hanging over the trail as a result of the heavy snowfall we received last week. We will start grooming soon and will post another update once it is completed. Keep in mind, this time of year we are building the base which is a slow process (PistenBully moves about 3-4mph) but it makes for great conditions throughout the season and on race day. There are currently about 25K of groomed trails on the Birkie Trail and more coming soon!
New Moon Staff Report, 12/12: The Moonies are skiing mostly classic on the Birkie Trail in the Boedecker and OO neighborhood. Tracks are pretty darn good. Frequent, light snow is keeping kick solid.
Fat Bike Trails 12/12, Thanks for CAMBA-FAT for the report: Jeff groomed the Seeley Hills trails last night, so they should very good right now.
Kim groomed the Hatchey Creek trail last night, so it should be good too.
Mick groomed Westside and Backside yesterday, so it should be good today. He groomed the Cable Town Trails a few days ago, but people rode them before they set up, so they might be a tad rough in spots. He hopes to get out today or tomorrow to hit them again.
Joe plans on grooming the Hospital Gateway Trail today. Please do not ride it until tomorrow. It is too cold to set up properly today.
Justin plans on grooming Seeley Pass Wednesday night.
The remaining trails – Esker, Makwa, Big Easy, and Big Fat Loop, have not yet been groomed.
If you’re still in disbelief, just head over to the Birkie Trail Cams for a live shot of the trail.
