Cold-Weather Strategies Revisited

Much of the Midwest is experiencing excessively frigid temperatures this week. Up here in Hayward, it looks like we will be enjoying a balmy high of -10 with temps dipping down to a frosty low of -29 degrees overnight.

With less than ideal weather conditions looming all over the country, we thought we’d look at a couple articles we posted last year about how to protect yourself when it’s not only cold but possibly dangerous out on the trail.

First up is a review of how to keep your hands and feet warm, including traditional strategies as well as ideas on nutrition that might benefit athletes dealing with uncomfortable appendages.

This next article has tips on keeping your face, eyes, and skin protected, even including something for your furry friends.

So, whether you are skiing, snowshoeing, or taking your dog for a walk, make sure you are thinking ahead and protecting yourself. Stay safe and warm out there!
