Power to the podium with the fastest possible skis with New Moon's Waxing Service for Birkie®. Our wax techs carefully study the snow conditions and test waxes to provide you with World-Cup grade performance. All skis are evaluated carefully cleaned and prepped. Technicians will inspect the base structure on your skis and will add structure, if needed. Then after considering the weather, your specific event, and timing we proceed with final application of the fastest race waxes available. As a US Ski & Snowboard sanctioned event, no fluoro wax will be allowed at the 2026 Birkie events. USSA conducts fluoro testing. IMPORTANT: No refunds for paid waxing service. If your plans change, you will receive store credit. Skiers may use store credit toward future races.We will accept skis up until NOON the day before your event for our premium wax service. You will receive a text when they are finished which may be anytime until we close. Just to remind you, we do not receive UPS or FedEx deliveries on Saturday and Sunday if shipping. NOTE TO CLASSIC SKIERS: Please ensure all kick wax is removed before drop off to avoid additional charges. Note that we offer binder prep but not kick wax or klister of the day. Here are a few simple steps to follow: 1) Pre-order Birkie Events Wax Service here on this page. 2) Print your order confirmation and secure it to your skis with masking tape. 3) Mark your skis with your name and phone # on masking tape. 4) Drop your skis off at New Moon or carefully pack, insure, and ship your skis to New Moon Birkie Wax Service, 15569 US Hwy 63, Hayward, WI 54843 5) Allow sufficient travel or transit time, so your skis arrive on time. Skis will not be delivered to the start area on race day. If you wish to have New Moon ship your skis back to you post-race, please make arrangements with us during your Birkie visit. Again, no refunds for paid waxing service. If your plans change, you will receive store credit.

Chris will select a great Birkie grind based on the forecast. *Includes post grind Hot Wax to harden and protect the skis. Grind skis must be at New Moon Hayward by closing (4pm) Sunday Feb 15. Completed grinds may be picked up after 10am Tuesday Feb 17. Completed skis marked for Birkie Wax Service will be sent to our wax service automatically after grind. Stone grinding is an important step in maintaining ski performance and longevity. It will help keep your race skis performing at an elite level for extended periods. Conversely, refraining from grinding can be one of the most significant factors in having slow skis. Grinds and skis can become worn out in many different ways. One is extreme skiing; ice and snow will cause abrasion to the skis, continually abrading and smoothing out the grind on a pair of skis. The more Ks on a ski, the more a stone grind will be needed. How frequently you wax is another factor in whether or not you will need a grind. The more you wax and work with the base, the more layers of that grind you will knock down. All of these factors will add up over time, and the longer you let it go in between stone grinds, the harder it is to flatten a ski and put a fresh grind on. When in doubt, consult with one of our ski techs about whether or not a grind is needed. Often, skis are long overdue when they arrive at the shop. If they become white in the base frequently, seem concave, convex, or just downright slow, this would be a great time to freshen up the grind. Grinding will never hurt the skis and will usually fix many problems.

Skis should be at New Moon no later than Thursday 10am. We do not receive shipments on Saturdays and Sundays so allow sufficient travel or transit time so that your skis arrive in a timely manner. Curbside drop off and pick up is available. As a US Ski & Snowboard sanctioned event, no fluoro wax will be allowed at the Birkie events. Testing by USSA Good Luck at the Prince Haakon!

This is an add-on service for our Glide Waxing Service. Includes cleaning and initial binder or klister binder prep only, not kick or klister of the day. Please mark your kick zone. If you are unsure, please indicate your weight and experience in detail in the 'comments' field at checkout. This will help us determine your kick zone. *Final kick wax application is the skier's responsibility.

This is an add-on service for our Glide Waxing Service. Includes skin pattern cleaning and high-performance glide anti-icing and glide treatment applied to the skin pattern. Important for all snow conditions, but vital for dirty or wet snow conditions.
