This wax outperforms other klisters in fresh snow conditions while simultaneously is able to kick in transformed ice crystals. In racing, this wax can be used as a mix with another klister, or under a cover wax. The versatility of this mix is in part due to its composition of klister raw materials, terva(tar), and aluminum. The aluminum additive prevents the formation of ice around freezing, when snow is in transition between solid and liquid state. The special ingredient is the terva which enables the wax to kick in warm conditions and remain fast on cold snow. The tar that is used in Uni Wide is created through the dry distillation of Finnish pine trees. What remains is a unqiue thermoplastic that transforms with changes in temperature. In a thin application, the tar hardens and creates a shell to protect from fresh ice crystals. In a thick application, the tar acts as a cusion layer to provide kick on rounded and transformed ice crystals. Application: Begin with a thin application of base klister or base klister spray. Then apply Universal Klister in a chevron pattern along the kick zone of your ski. Tech tip: apply a thin layer for fresh snow conditions, and a thicker layer for transformed snow conditions. There is nothing like perfect kick on your favorite pair of waxable classic skis. Simplicity is important for skiers learning to kick wax. This wax kit equips classic skiers with tried and true basics for a wide range of snow conditions. No unusual or mysterious waxes here! Apply several thin layers underfoot from your heel 12" to 18" forward of your toes. This area is called the 'kick zone'. Experiment; see what works for you! For cold conditions below 10 degrees F, Swix V20 Green gives reliable kick and makes a durable base for other kick waxes. Swix V40 Blue Extra is perhaps the most popular kick wax ever made, working well from 10 degrees F up to about 30 degrees F. Virtually all seasoned classic skiers use Blue Extra. A true classic! For the warmer days with moist snow, Swix V55 Special Red kicks when the Blue Extra gets too slippery. If V55 is too slippery on a given day, it's time for waxless skis or klister! After treatment, Rex Glide Cleaner leaves a very hard and thin layer of Rex UHW hard wax, that acts as an excellent binder for both liquid and solid paraffin waxes. Glides well even on its own on dirty and artificial snow, that is usually found in ski tunnels.
