The Universal Pivot Binding functions much like the standard Universal Binding. The main difference is the flexplate has a hinge built in (hence the pivot name) just behind the ball of the foot. Performance is better for touring than the standard, the pivot also has the ability to adjust out longer for larger boots. We have been able to fit up to a size 15 boot with it – depending on your boot design. if you measure your boot in a straight line toe to heel the pivot will fit up to 14.5 inches in length. Since the pivot point is still at what we call a Nordic pivot – behind the ball of the foot – we still recommend this for only flexible-soled boots. The Pivot adjusts the same as the standard Universal binding and uses the same instruction manual. Found here: XTRACE-USERS-MANUAL The Pivot is also available in a package with the Hok and can be found here. The differences between the original Xtrace and the Pivot Xtrace – it's all in the base plate! Xtrace differences
